Juan of the Dead one of Austin’s “biggest surprises”

juan of the Dead was a big success at Austin Fantastic Fest. Crowds of zombie fans cheered all the films gags and the films was saluted by the specialized media such as Twitch which said that it was the festival´s “biggest surprise”:

I think I was expecting something a bit squeaky and low budget looking, but what I got was a polished looking Cuban zombie survival horror comedy to rival the best of the recent batch of such films. Alejandro Brugues is a filmmaker to look out for, and this film is almost sure to get distribution, so please, when it does, support it!

During the award ceremony, Juan of the Dead was announced as runner up for this year Audience Award, which was won by the film A Boy And His Samurai (by Yoshihiro Nakamura)
