WHERE?
Cuba’s first-ever zombie film is scheduled to premiere at the 36th edition of Toronto International Film Festival, to be held from Sep 8-18. Founded in 1976, the TIFF is now one of the most prestigious film festivals in the world. In 1998, Variety magazine acknowledged that “the Festival is second only to Cannes in terms of high-profile pics, stars and market activity.”
The US premiere is confirmed at Austin’s Fantastic Fest, the largest genre film festival in the US, specializing in horror, fantasy, sci-fi, action and just plain fantastic movies from all around the world. In years past the event -to take place from September 22 to 29- has presented the world premieres of THERE WILL BE BLOOD, APOCALYPTO and ZOMBIELAND, among others.
As mentioned before, the film’s European premiere will be next in October during SITGES International Fantastic Film Festival of Catalonia – the number one fantasy film festival in the world. Juan of the Dead will be the featured film of Zombie Walk, a popular annual night-time event at Sitges in which festival-goers parade on the streets of the seaside town dressed as zombies.
